For most of 2025, I spent my time transforming 9NEWS at 3 p.m. from a stereotypical “hour of news” into a dynamic hour of news-led, community-focused lifestyle programming. I worked with a wonderful pair of anchors – Sam Schacher and Alexandra Lewis – creating a show that appealed to our shared interests: Food, film, family, and the arts. We balanced daily headlines with entertaining segments in a way few shows in America could match, which led to ratings growth among the key 25-54 demographic.
The above clip is from Sam Schacher’s weekly series, “Kids With Capes,” highlighting special kids doing extraordinary things.
The above clip features a live interview with the mayor of Boulder, Colo., joining the program to talk about the city’s strategy for hosting Sundance in 2027 and beyond. Not seen: My panic after the mayor showed up late and we had to shuffle the entire show to accommodate his appearance.
The above clip is from Alexandra Lewis’ weekly series, “The Justice Gap,” focusing on issues of inequality around the state of Colorado.
The above clip is a food segment from our March 28, 2025 newscast. It’s part of a semi-monthly series highlighting new spots around Colorado.
